Last Chicago trip

We expected to be living in the Chicago area for a least a couple more years so we still had a huge list of things we wanted to do in the city but hadn't done yet.  We only had a few weekends left in the area and I was still pretty weak, but we decided to try and see a few more places....and mostly by car.
Our first stop was the temple.  Jared and I had gone a few times but we had never taken the kids.  When we had time to go all the way up there we wanted to do sessions so the kids were always left behind but we wanted them to get to see it before we left.  I needed to pick up a few Christmas gifts at the bookstore so we made the trek up.

Jared had really wanted to go to a Cubs game.  NOT because he is in any way a fan, but simply because he wanted to go to Wrigley Field.  Unfortunately, his work schedule had prevented that the previous year, so a drive by was as close as he got.

I think it is funny that some of the actually seats the stadium sells are on top of apartment buildings adjacent to the field!  You can see them on the brick building in the back of this picture.

We got to see a lot of the city on the way from the stadium to downtown since we weren't just by-passing on the free way and since Wrigley's Field was not super close to downtown.  Coming into downtown from a different direction also allowed us to see some more famous landmarks like the Drake Hotel.
We parked and went into the shopping area that had the American girl doll store.  To the girl's great disappointment (especially Bella's) we did not buy anything but we did look around.  You can't tell in this picture but the placed was PACKED.  It was hard to keep track of everyone and move around.  Katy had her cell phone so I told her not to let go of Alexandra for anything and I held on to Bella.

Jared and Jacob had made their escape next door to the Lego store.  We later joined them there.  Jacob was darting all around with eyes as big as saucers.  He loved the store, and especially all the Star War legos.
I love how they have "girl" colored legos now.  Where were these when I was little?  Or Katy was younger?

An incredible model of the Chicago skyline made completely from Legos.  It was really quite amazing!
In the back of this picture you can see the tail of a dragon.  The dragon was all along the store coming in and out of the walls, it was also quite impressive
The US Cellular Field we passed as we headed home.  It was a fun farewell to the city but there was still so much more we would've liked to have done.  That was all the tired momma could handle for one day though
