I really liked the Lady Viking Soccer league. I felt like the focus was on improving the girls. I loved the extra clinics they had even if they made my life more stressful. The directors really stressed good sportsmanship especially from parents. We would recieve general chastisment emails if they thought parents got out of hand. For the most part it worked, but as my parents found out, sometimes especially at Tournament, parents would get a little testy. But overall, it was som much better than rec league soccer in that area. They also had 3v3 tournaments to help improve the girls. The focus was not as much on winning there as improving technique (although finals scores and winners were tallied). The theory was that by having only 3 girls out on smaller fields, the less dominant players would have to step up and would get more time with the ball. It was pretty productive and helped more girls get goals than maybe would have without the 3v3 Touney.
At the end of the season, there was an awards night. All of the girls' teams won their Tournament and in addition came in 1st or 2nd place in the regular season.
1st place Tournament Trophies
2nd place overall season trophies
1st place Tournament trophies
1st place overall trophies
1st place Tournament trophies
2nd place overall trophies
Katy's team was disappointed they got 2nd overall. But spring season the year before they were first place which made them THE team to beat. They also lost a few players who moved up to the U14 team between seasons. They all played a great season and can be proud of themselves.
Our beautiful soccer players and their awards. I should scan and post the picture of all 3 of them the sports photographer took on group picture day. It is very pretty!
